Distance Educator of the Year 2009 ~ Brian Harding - Social Sciences Division
Mott's Distance Education program has been in existence for well over 20 years. Part of the reason it has lasted this long is due to the dedication and hard work of the faculty who participate and teach in this area. We have been very fortunate to have worked with so many great faculty members over the years.
Starting with the last award, we sent out an electronic survey to students asking them to vote for their favorite distance learning faculty member and to provide comments on that instructor. Comments from this year's recipient include:
- Gets you well prepared for each task every week
- Prepares you for every exam or quiz
- Always updates the class activities that are going on here at the MCC campus
- Goes above and beyond what other e-Learning instructors have done in my experience
- Provides a great curriculum with many supporting materials
- Expects weekly participation and sets up discussion threads to ensure we are participating
- Class is very organized and thorough
This instructor's student success rate is above the 80% mark, which shows dedication to both the course content and student learning.
